Burn the Negative - News!!

Its been a bit quiet on the Burn the Negative front. But thats not to say a hell of a lot is going on!
Heres some news on there goings ons written by Mark Baker for his myspace fans..!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

SO, you might be pleased to know, we've finished the writing and arranging of the new album which is currently, as yet, untitled.

We'll be in London in the next month or so, to mix it down, possibly in Dean Street studios in Soho. We also mixed the first album "In The Atmosphere" down there, so we know we're going to get something pretty special.
Next step from there will be a mastering session at the legendary Abbey Road, again, we've been before and loved the place so much.

NEXT UP, Unfortunately, Gary Little, our keyboard programmer and in house engineer, has decided to leave the band, he said it was a difficult decision but felt he wanted to concentrate on some of his own personal projects and decided it would be difficult to do this, whilst concentrating on the LIVE aspects of Burn The Negative.
Gary co-produced the first album with Mark and made writing contributions to singles such as WONDER WHY & LOW, again on the first album and worked with Mark for over 15 years on the Lil' Devious / Percy Filth / The Hinges / Royal Suite projects.
Gary will play his final gig with the band in Nottingham's STEALTH club on the 27th March. We all wish him the very best for the future. x

"BUT...BUT, WHERE DOES THIS LEAVE BURN THE NEGATIVE"??!!!?? We hear you all cry!!!
Well, Well...Last month, we put out a search for a technical wizard / an electronic ALCHEMIST and an all round LIVE Keys and magical boffin.
BUT, We managed to find our next member instead...!! We've been in band rehearsals with him, he's shaping up brilliantly!!! We'll be introducing him VERY soon...

IN THE ATMOSPHERE - REMIXED

Yes! Our first album has been remixed, it'll be released as a strict i-Tunes release. Remixes a plenty from rising stars, Welfare for the Digital, 10RAPID, Enzo Canale, Whis This, Lex Wolf, Leatherhead, Paul Deighton & Tom Madicott... Keep your eyes peeled to see whos shaken up which track.

Thanks for reading!! We'll be back with more news SOON!

Petter & The Pix - Never Never (Official Video)

We've got the official video from Petter & The Pix for the first single from their album 'Good As Gold'. The video is for 'Never Never' and was shot on a cold day in a London park and over Chinese New Year by a cracking director Jane Danowski!!

Here's the press release for the 'Never Never'

Six-piece Swedish style-hoppers Petter & The Pix will release their new single ‘Never Never’ on 26 April through Gung-Ho Recordings. Taken from their forthcoming new album Good As Gold, the single ‘Never Never’ is a strange, fuzzy pop song, driven by a relentless keyboard riff, gently psychedelic guitars, and Petter’s quietly emotive vocal delivery.

Released in the UK on 3 May, Good As Gold is a dazzlingly eclectic record that sees Petter repeatedly roam round, and transgress, various genre boundaries. On top of its folk-pop core, the record also contains splashes of American sun (‘Backyard’), an Afrobeat bounce (‘Stuck in Between’), and the type of hushed beauty The Band of Horses have recently perfected (‘Before I Do’). Despite all its genre-jumping, ‘Good As Gold’ retains a coherency, and its own identity, through Petter’s insatiable ear for melody. He is also a dark lyrical soul, perhaps best demonstrated on the album’s thematic and stylistic centrepiece, ‘Momentarily Lost’ (currently available as a free download). Powered by a relentless beat and Petter’s gently emotive vocals, ‘Lost’ captures the elegiac intensity that bewitched fans of Arcade Fire, and builds beautifully towards its broodingly baroque crescendo.

Petter is the brother of Pontus Winnberg, otherwise known as one half of Bloodshy & Avant. Whilst his brother worked with the likes of Britney Spears (notably on ‘Toxic’), Petter moved to Iceland and recruited school friends - alongside members of Múm and Gusgus - to force his own creative vision into life. In 2008, Petter & The Pix quickly and quietly released their debut album, ‘Easily Tricked’, earning US syncs, an XFM session and an iTunes Single of the Week in the process. Members of the band went on to play with the likes of Lykke Li, El Perro Del Mar, Taken By Trees and Miike Snow, before delivering ‘Good As Gold’ – a record that doesn’t so much step out of the shadows as it does race out into the light.

The record comes coupled with instantly-arresting Native American cover art, courtesy of legendary illustrator Joe Belt (whose few previous artists include James Brown, as seen on the classic 1974 album ‘Hell’). Live shows will be announced nearer the release of ‘Good As Gold’, when the UK will get its chance to make sense of Petter & the Pix.

This single is set to be released 26th April

THE RIALTO BURNS - NEW SIGNING! ! !

Gung Ho! Recordings is extremely proud to have signed The Rialto Burns to the label. Members of the band are from Liverpool and North Wales and make a sound that is genuinely superb. Probably best decide for yourselves what genre they are but to us here is just damn good, beautiful echo'y guitars with lyrics that actually mean something.

The band are made up of Adam Chatterton - Vocals, Alex Baillie - Guitar, Paul Coughlan - Guitar and Paul Potts - Bass. On drums is the drum machine which gives a slight electronic edge to the sound.

The deal was signed this week after Gung Ho! head honcho Matt seeing them play live at Korova in Liverpool. Now all thats left is to get this rolling. keep checking back to this blog for more info.

Check out The Rialto Burns myspace for more info and music. Also join their facebook.

Greg Churchill - Gung Ho! 40th Release!!

Gung-Ho! Would like to announce that the labels 40th Release is looming and it seems fitting that none other than Greg Churchill should be the person to release the 40th record.
Matt says" We have been working with Greg for years and his output has always been incredible. In fact he is not only a dear label friend but a thoroughly superb producer. We have been trying to get an album out of him for ages but have decided to let him carry on with writing that pressure free while we get his EP's into the release system. You should expect at least 3 double track EPs from Greg in 2010 alongside a flurry of remixes he will be doing.
The first EP and 40th Gung-Ho! Release will be Gregs 'Clown Punch' backed with the utterly insane 'Babblegap'
You know when Greg is on Good form when he writes something as nuts as that."
Promos will be doing the rounds shortly
