Whis This Debut EP out now! Plus a mega mix from Whis This!!

Brand new EP out and another debut EP brought to you by Gung Ho! There's a excellent/mental mix at the bottom make sure to check it out!!

"Whis This" is a Milan-based house/electro project born in 2009. The two djs/producers behind the name come from quite different musical backgrounds; Gianluca (LeBatman) is a french-touch/electro producer and dj, while Ale comes from a minimal-tech scene. They both released tracks and remixes on their own before meeting and deciding to put together their own personal backgrounds, tastes and experiences to create the unique sound of Whis This.

This EP perfectly showcases what Whis This are about and what the can do! Throwing in vocals here and there and making electro that is impossible not to dance to. Ass Back is warpy and dubby but still has a lot of funk running through it. The Bad Boy is rolling and energetic and can be thrown in anytime during a set to bring the party up a notch! BangBangBang it’s the dirtiest of the lot but still retains a real groove through out! Dodgems 2 has recently featured on Ministry Of Sounds Addicted to bass compilation!

Petter & The Pix - Never Never (Single) OUT NOW

The first single (Never Never) from the new album (Good As Gold) from Petter & The Pix is out now!

The single is available exclusively on iTunes click here to download

.. .. .. .. .. .. ..

Six-piece Swedish style-hoppers Petter & The Pix will release their new single ‘Never Never’ on 26 April through Gung-Ho Recordings. Taken from their forthcoming new album Good As Gold, the single ‘Never Never’ is a strange, fuzzy pop song, driven by a relentless keyboard riff, gently psychedelic guitars, and Petter’s quietly emotive vocal delivery. ....

Released in the UK on 3 May, Good As Gold is a dazzlingly eclectic record that sees Petter repeatedly roam round, and transgress, various genre boundaries. On top of its folk-pop core, the record also contains splashes of American sun (‘Backyard’), an Afrobeat bounce (‘Stuck in Between’), and the type of hushed beauty The Band of Horses have recently perfected (‘Before I Do’). Despite all its genre-jumping, ‘Good As Gold’ retains a coherency, and its own identity, through Petter’s insatiable ear for melody. He is also a dark lyrical soul, perhaps best demonstrated on the album’s thematic and stylistic centrepiece, ‘Momentarily Lost’ (currently available as a free download). Powered by a relentless beat and Petter’s gently emotive vocals, ‘Lost’ captures the elegiac intensity that bewitched fans of Arcade Fire, and builds beautifully towards its broodingly baroque crescendo. ....

Petter is the brother of Pontus Winnberg, otherwise known as one half of Bloodshy & Avant. Whilst his brother worked with the likes of Britney Spears (notably on ‘Toxic’), Petter moved to Iceland and recruited school friends - alongside members of Múm and Gusgus - to force his own creative vision into life. In 2008, Petter & The Pix quickly and quietly released their debut album, ‘Easily Tricked’, earning US syncs, an XFM session and an iTunes Single of the Week in the process. Members of the band went on to play with the likes of Lykke Li, El Perro Del Mar, Taken By Trees and Miike Snow, before delivering ‘Good As Gold’ – a record that doesn’t so much step out of the shadows as it does race out into the light.....

The record comes coupled with instantly-arresting Native American cover art, courtesy of legendary illustrator Joe Belt (whose few previous artists include James Brown, as seen on the classic 1974 album ‘Hell’). Live shows will be announced nearer the release of ‘Good As Gold’, when the UK will get its chance to make sense of Petter & the Pix.....

THE JAPANESE POPSTARS SIGN TO VIRGIN EMI!!

Yesterday it was officially announced that The Japanese Popstars have signed from Gung Ho! to Virgin Records. We are overjoyed and think this will get the Japstars to the highs that they deserve. We will still be heavily involved with them and manage the boys through these exciting times and beyond. Here's what was said on emimusic.com

The Japanese Popstars are ready to Destroy

A new signing for EMI that we’re very excited about is The Japanese Popstars, a trio from Northern Ireland who have been spent the last 18 months touring the world and winning huge numbers of fans to their sparkling electronic dance music.

Hailed as the rightful heirs to the likes of Underworld, Leftfield, The Chemical Brothers and Orbital, Decky, Gary and Galo’s debut album ‘We Just Are’ attracted huge critical acclaim (eg ‘Literally amazing’, ‘The most exciting new electronic act on the planet’, ‘F**king amazing’) and led to them performing their stunning live sets at Glastonbury, Ultra Festival, Fabric, Rockness, Fuji Rock and Planet Love among many others. This summer’s festivals include Bestival, Creamfields, Parklife, Electric Picnic and Rockness.

New single ‘Destroy’ is released by Virgin Records on May 30. Featuring vocals by Jon Spencer (of the Blues Explosion) the single paves the way for the band’s second album which is due out in the summer.
